Are Jellycat toys safe for dog?

Jellycat are a huge success, at this moment they are probably the largest soft toy designers and manufacturers in the world!

Amongst many questions that new buyers may have, one has yet to be truly answered, and that is 'whether or not Jellycat toys are safe for our furry friends?'

Jellycat use a wide range of materials to fit their expansive collection of soft toys, so finding the right toy that's safe for your pet can be quite challenging! Here are a few things you should bear in mind, and a few ideas to help along the way!
Please click on any of the surrounding images, they have links to their respective 'more details' page. I recommend checking these out, as they are in our opinon your best options for soft toys for a pet!

The Size Of Your Pet

This will hugely affect which toys and materials you should definitely avoid.
For example, small fluffy fur may not affect a bigger sized animal, such as a Labrador (it can, however, still be a choking risk), but could really harm a smaller sized dog like a Chihuahua. This is due to undigestible materials that can clog up some of their plumbing and do a lot of internal damage.
That's a disaster none of us want!
Bigger animals tend to have more energy - and so if you're in need of a toy that your animal won't destroy in the first 10 minutes, then you may want to look elswhere! Jellycat are toys of quality, so if you want an indestructible toy,
a Kong toy may be more suitable!

The Size Of The Jellycat

We would really recommend going for a larger sized Jellycat, as smaller items may be swallowed. A bigger toy is probably more suited to pets! Lines like the Bashful Bunny have many larger sized plushies that come in varied colours. Small pets would love anything from the Vivacious Vegetable Range, as they are the perfect size for their small jaws to clasp!

DIY Pet Proofing

You could always try altering any toys that aren't "pet-proof" by removing ribbons, strings, eyes or other parts that could be chewed off and ingested. Soft toys are not indestructible and some are sturdier than others. So Pet-Proofing is always worth looking at! If you are giving your pet a Jellycat - please replace it as soon as it sees signs of wear and tear - to ensure your pet gets the most pleasure out of their Jellycat!

Safety Guidlines of Products

It is a good genreal assumption to make that if a soft toy is "suitable from birth" then it should be suitable for supervised playtime with your pet!
Soft toys that are filled with nutshells and polystyrene beads can be problematic but even "safe" stuffings aren't truly digestible. A supervised playtime is a safe playtime. Please make sure that any soft toys you purchase are machine washable. This is a good indicator that the soft toy is more suitable for rough play!

Personal preference

Some pets will love huge toys, Ferrets like to pretend to hunt down stuffed animals three times their size!
I know my Kitten would love to get the jump on a Huge Harry Panda for sure.
That being said, pets surprise us all the time, and there personal preference may be completely different to what we would expect!

REMEMBER - PET SAFETY STARTS WITH YOU!
IF YOU ARE GIVING YOUR PET A SOFT TOY, THEY ARE NOT INDESTRUCTIBLE AND SO SHOULD REALLY BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES!
