Firstly, as background, Jellycat is the trading name of a company started by two lovely brothers, Thomas and William Gatacre.
Jellycat are a relatively recent company, dating from only 1999, but they are now a world leader in soft toy design and manufacture.
Despite lots of competition Jellycat are still a very trend setting soft toy company, bringing out new quirky designs seasonally.
So the qustion is, 'Where to buy your Jellycat from?'
Here you have a number of options dependant upon what exactly you are looking for.
If you are a 'touchy-feely' sort of person who wants to actually have a tactile involvement with your favourite designs, then you need to find a really good Jellycat stockist that displays the full range.
Jellycat themselves do not have this capability.
So, you have the choice of large department stores, like John Lewis and Selfridges, that are centrally situated, but, come with high parking fees, crowds, often have limited choice and, because of the style of the business, are often very impersonal.
Or, you can look for an independant retailer that has plenty of free parking; is very accessible by car, bus or bike; offers an amazing selection of Jellycat soft toys and has dedicated, knowledgeable staff to help with your purchase.
Sounds pretty obvious doesn't it?
The problem is finding your independant retailer, Jellycat has a store locator on their site where you can find your local UK Jellycat retailer.
Unfortunately, without trawling through all of the entries, (for example, if you put Nottingham into their locator you get John Lewis, Bardills Garden Centre, Attenborough Nature Centre, another garden center and several smaller retailers), you have no real idea what their selections are like, and, to make things worse, some of the links on the 'Store Locator' are broken.
The answer seems to be, as usual, the web!
Simply put 'Jellycat' into the search bar on any device and in the 'organic' section (not sponsored) you will find the biggest independant retailers, from here you can look around their premises, read their reviews and look at their stock levels.
You can then decide which is the closest to you and plot your course accordingly!
When you look online you will find that the biggest independant retailers for Jellycat with actual retail premises are:
Fleurtations Gifts Ltd of Nottingham, coming with free parking, situated on two major bus routes, with four telephone lines, dedicated customer care, dedicated trained Jellycat sales personnel, the entire Jellycat catalogue on display including new Jellycat arrivals and significantly impressive pricing!
Also coming with impressive reviews: 4.6 stars from 152 Google reviews and 4.6 from 149 Facebook reviews.
Next comes Maison White ltd.
Maisonwhite.co.uk were established in 2011 operating from their retail shop in Colchester, Essex. They have recently relocated their store to Benson in Oxfordshire where they sell a fabulous range of fine homeware and gifts, including soft toys from key brands such as Jellycat where they stock a growing range of loveable childrens toys.
They have 3.8 stars from 24 Google Reviews, offer free parking on a service road, they have 4.6 from 115 reviews on Trustpilot and are always very reasonably priced for Jellycat.
Next comes Jeremy's Home Store of 26-28 Monson Rd, Tunbridge Wells TN1 1ND.
Established in 1996, offering a good range of gifts including Jellycat soft toys.
They have a 4.7 star rating from 273 Google reviews and open six days per week from 9:00 - 17:00, unfortunately there is no free parking but they have a strong high street presence.
There are obviously more retailers out there, but they generally only carry limited stock.
So, if you want to actually see an impressive array of Jellycat soft toys, as well as Moulin Roty, Noodoll and Moomin then it seems like the place to go is Fleurtations of Nottingham!
